Easily Digestible Grain for Healthy Cooking

Basmati rice is one of the staples of Indian cooking and an Ayurvedic diet. Often called “the queen of fragrance” or “the perfumed one,” basmati rice boasts a delicious, nutty flavor and aroma. It has been favored historically by emperors and praised by poets for hundreds of years. This basmati rice is light, fluffy, mixes well with a variety of foods, sauces, and spices, and cooks quickly. Not only is it easy on the palate, it is also one of the most easily digestible grains, perfect for soothing the digestive tract. Basmati rice is one of the main ingredients used in kitchari, a flavorful, soupy stew commonly used in cleansing, along with yellow mung dal and our Kitchari Spice Mix.

Suggested Use:
Rinse 1 cup rice until the water runs clear, place in a pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer until the water has been absorbed (approximately 15–20 minutes). Enjoy!
