This balanced blend of basmati rice and yellow mung dal is perfect for detoxes, cleanses, or whenever you want a warm, nourishing bowl of the quintessential Ayurvedic meal, kitchari. Just add spices!
One bag provides enough servings for a three-day kitchari cleanse, while two bags provide enough servings for a seven-day kitchari cleanse.
How to Make Kitchari
- ½ cup Rice and Dal
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon Kitchari Spice Mix
- 2 teaspoons ghee
- ¼ cup vegetables (optional)
- Cilantro and salt to garnish (optional)
Soak Rice and Dal for at least 1 hour. Drain soak water. In a medium saucepan, sauté Kitchari Spice Mix in ghee for 1–2 minutes. Add Rice and Dal, sauté for a couple more minutes. Add water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30–45 minutes. Add veggies if desired, and add more water as needed. Garnish with fresh cilantro and add salt to taste, and enjoy!
